 Dental Zen Chairs

New Dental Chairs That Provide A Real Vacation For The Body/Mind

The ACCD worked extensively with an inventor to create our unique Dental Zen Chairs. These chairs are very special and revolutionary. After being in the chairs for as few as five minutes, many people experience a deep relaxation effect. In fact, we are seeing that these chairs put patients in such a stage of relaxation that many people actually request less anesthetic.

The chairs deliver a sound massage via therapeutic doses of sound energy transmitted directly THROUGH the human body via specially designed transducers and diaphragms located throughout the chair. The chairs act much like full range tuning forks set to resonate and vibrate from a very low to high range of frequencies - the exact full range frequency ranges that the body resonates best at. Through direct contact with the chair's vibrating diaphragm, the body's fluid and bones are activated with sound waves from special audio sources.

By scientifically tuning the Dental Zen Chairs to these precise frequency ranges, they are designed so that the most dynamic experience of vibration is in the body. You literally "Become the Sound" and melt into the experience, until you can't tell where your body ends and the sound vibration begins.

The chairs deliver that effect because our body is a lot like a water balloon. We're more than 70% water held in a bag of skin. So imagine setting a water balloon on a head of a speaker or a resonating tuning fork. The vibrations from the speaker or tuning fork would travel directly through the water in the balloon.

The end result can be amazing. For example, if you listen to a waterfall-type DVD with Bose Noise Reduction Headphones, you close your eyes and you can imagine and actually feel the sensation of water running down your back and legs and through your body. If you are listening to a thunderstorm type CD, for many people, the temperature of the room actually seems to drop, you get the feeling that the humidity changed and you feel the rain hit your body. If you listen to an ocean CD, you swear you are floating up and down with the surf. This is virtual reality at its best. Of course, you can listen to whatever music you want (we usually play some new age music that really goes well with the chair) or special massage CDs.

The obvious stress reduction benefits of listening to relaxing music have been proven through numerous research projects in hospitals, universities and private practices over the course of many years. Normally, hearing involves sound waves pushing air pulses against the ear drum, moving the mechanical joints of the middle ear bones which amplify these vibrations to the inner ear, which pushes fluids into wave pulses, which move tiny nerve endings, which fire signals through the 8th cranial nerve directly into the temporal lobe of the brain, which interprets these impulses as sound.

By delivering these sound frequencies through the body directly, an entirely different system of the body - spinal cord and areas of the brainstem and brain - are brought into play, with the possibility of a much deeper whole-body response. With this delivery system you have direct cellular stimulation. Direct stimulation of living cellular tissue using sound frequency vibration has shown marked cellular organelle response with a corresponding measurable increase of cellular metabolism and therefore a possible mobilization of a cellular healing response. Since the human body is over 70% water and since sound travels about 5 times more efficiently through water than through air, sound frequency is communicating directly to the body thus becoming a highly efficient means for total body stimulation, especially at a cellular level.

Simply put, the body and mind is exercised with a new stimulus via the chairs. Because of the complex yet harmonic environment of music, the body/mind accepts this new stimulus and processes this information in what's called "whole brain functioning." This type of process creates a type of "tuning" or "time alignment" of the body/mind. Generally, the listener takes a deep breath and engages into the experience. The results of what comes next vary due to the music/sound and the state of each person. When used in balance with the listener, the impact creates an environment that will draw the patient's thoughts and experiences to the dynamic vibrations coming through the Dental Zen Chair.

All patients know is that this makes their visit an adventure - a pleasant, pampering experience - and they forget they are at a dentist's office.
